Tonight! Good Friday Service
Westside will be joining Vermont Hills UMC and West Portland UMC in a Tenebrae service tonight, Friday, April 15, at 7:00 pm.
Pastor Brett will be preaching the message.
The service will be held in person at Vermont Hills, 6053 SW 55th Drive in Portland, and online on Zoom, meeting ID 409 087 237.
Wooden Pallets
The Gardening Group is looking for wooden pallets in good condition. They will repurpose them into raised beds for growing vegetables on the church campus.
Look for pallets while you’re out shopping. Likely spots include garden centers, flooring, pet food, or furniture stores. If not marked ‘Property of…’, many businesses will allow you to take them if you ask permission first.
Gardening Group on Wednesday
Don’t forget that the Gardening Group will be gathering on Wednesday, Apr 13, at 6:00 pm, rain or shine.
They will walk around Westside's campus, see where some good spots might be to build boxes (based on sun, wind, energy analysis, etc.) and start taking inventory of what we already have and what we will need to get started.
Speak to Pastor Brett if you are interested in joining the group or supporting them through donations.

RSVP for Seder Meal
You don’t want to miss our Maundy Thursday event on April 14. Maundy Thursday commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles. We will remember using a brief ceremony during which red wine will be sipped. Hummus with vegetables and crackers will be available.
Afterward, a very traditional Seder dinner prepared by Sandy H will be served. The menu includes:
Matzo ball soup
Garden salad with housemade vinaigrette
Apricot chicken
Rice pilaf with almonds
Salted caramel matzo brittle
White or rose wine
Non-alcoholic beverages
Matzo is gluten-free. The menu is dairy-free except for the dessert brittle.
The suggested donation to cover the food cost is $16 per person.
This is a kid-friendly event for all ages.
Please RSVP by Monday morning, April 11, at https://westsidejourney.breezechms.com/form/baf0a2
This Sunday is Palm Sunday
Join us in the sanctuary at 10:00 am this Sunday. We will have a processional with real palm branches as we celebrate the arrival of the Savior!
Don't Throw It Away!
As you’re doing your spring cleaning, please consider bringing gently used items to church for Family Promise guests. You may leave them in the family room, at the end of the hall to the right.
Four families recently lost everything in a fire at an apartment complex. They are in need of clothing for all ages (especially children), bedding (queen and twin size), and household items of all sorts.
You may also donate by check or PayPal; please indicate Family Promise.
End Times for the Apocalypse Bible Study

Verifying Information
Every so often, we need to verify your contact information and clean up our database, before we print a new directory. It’s that time again.
If you will be at church some Sunday this month, look for your letter on the entryway table. All family members are in one envelope. Please correct and/or supply information directly on the letter and place it in the ‘completed forms’ basket. (Pro tip: if you will return the envelope as well, we can re-use it and save a little money!)
Thank you so much for your participation!

Watch Your Step
The sidewalk from the parking lot to the church is closed for repairs.
When you come to church this Sunday, you will need to walk on the grass or enter by the west entrance.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
UMCOR Sunday
This Sunday, March 27, is a special giving day for United Methodists. Once a year, UMCs all across the globe take up an offering to support the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR).
When disaster strikes in the US or around the world, UMCOR goes into action to help alleviate suffering and express the love of Christ to those involved.
In 2021 gifts to UMCOR Sunday totaled $1,272,162. Your gifts support UMCOR’s cost of doing business. This helps UMCOR keep the promise that 100 percent of any gift to a specific UMCOR project will go toward that project, not administrative costs. UMCOR has no source of income for sustaining administration except through gifts to UMCOR Sunday offering.
You may designate UMCOR on your check or through our online giving, or you may visit UMC.org/SSGive
Dominican Republic Mission Trip
