Busy Bees

From Michele M:

I am interested in knowing if any creative men or women in our congregation would like to meet once a month to prepare for our Christmas donation to the homeless.  It can be knitted, crocheted, hooked, carved, or any creative idea you might have to assist a homeless man, woman or child.  If you have ever wanted to learn a craft hopefully we will have someone who can teach you.

I'm hoping we can meet on a Wednesday or Thursday evening around 6:30 pm so our employed members would have the opportunity to join us.  Please contact Michele Milantoni at bzlady49@yahoo.com if you are interested.

Stewardship Team Opportunity

The Stewardship Team is looking for one or more new members. The current team consists of Pastor Brett, Markus T, Becky W, Sally S and Kari S.

The stewardship team is responsible for planning and implementing our yearly Stewardship Campaign that is held in October. It culminates with EGS (Extravagant Generosity Sunday.) They also choose the ministry for the Change for Change Buckets twice a year.

It is a seasonal commitment for the stewardship campaign - usually July through October.

If you’re interested, their next meeting is Wednesday, July 12th at 7:30 pm (location TBD.) Contact any team member with questions.

Help Build Hope Tomorrow

It’s not too late to register for Help Build Hope, where all the walls for a Habitat For Humanity home are built in one morning.

Tomorrow, Saturday, June 24th, all ages and skill levels are welcome! Children are welcome to work with their families. And childcare will also be provided.

Hammers and nails are provided, so you only need to bring yourself, perhaps your family, a friend or two, work gloves, and sunscreen.

Help Build Hope is held at Christ United Methodist Church, 12755 NW Dogwood St. Learn more and sign up through their website at https://cedarmillchristumc.org/serve/help-build-hope

Successful Yard Sale

Thanks to everyone who helped make last weekend’s yard sale a success!

Almost $1700 was raised but more importantly, we give thanks for the sense of community that the sale brought.

Every shopper received a flyer with our upcoming events, including the block party on July 9, worship at the lake on July 23, and the blessing of the animals on August 13. The remaining flyers will be on the entryway table this Sunday - grab a few for yourself and your friends and neighbors!

If you took home a sign for the yard sale, please return it. We will re-use them for the next sale.

Block Party

Let’s invite our neighbors to join us for worship under the tent on July 9!

Afterward, there will be lawn games and lunch, featuring smoked brisket and chicken (thanks, Sandy!), from 11:30 am-1:30 pm.

Please contact Kari S if you have any of the following: a cornhole set, volleyball net/ball, soccer goals/ball.

Watch for more details and to RSVP for lunch.

Big Fun at the Yard Sale

The Yard Sale is in progress! Everything you see above plus much more outside!

Don’t miss your opportunity to snag some great deals - today (Friday, June 16) until 8:00 pm, or tomorrow (Saturday, June 17) from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Big thanks to Rose D, Jane W, Michele M, and everyone else who helped set this up.

WFWA Update

A message from Merry G:

Here is an update on the Western Farm Workers Association. We have been organizing in Washington County for 35 years without government funding, providing members with emergency food, clothing, networking, and access to legal and health services.

We have distributed more than 15,000 pounds of non-perishable food  and 10,000 pounds of fresh groceries in just the last six months!

We are still looking for a donated space that we can use for a clothing closet in the Hillsboro area.  It will be a space that can store and display clothing, open 2 to 3 days a week, for six months if possible. All clothing is free of charge.   Any ideas or donations, call Merry G at 503-840-7410     Thank you
