Donations & Meals for Migrant Workers

Meals for the migrant workers at Heike’s Farm begin this Saturday at 5:00 pm. Each year, Bonnie leads this team to provide hot meals as well as providing toiletries, clothes, household goods, and more.

WFWA Summer Campaign

The Western Farm Workers Association members need the following items:

  • white rice

  • dried pinto beans

  • cooking oil

  • peanut butter

  • pasta

  • pasta sauce

  • masa (corn flour)

  • sunscreen

  • first aid kits

  • bandages

  • adult toothbrushes

  • toothpaste

  • bottled water

  • reusable water bottles

There is a basket in the church entryway where you can donate these items and Merry G will get them to the WFWA office. Or drop them off at 725 SE 7 Ave in Hillsboro, 9 am - 9 pm.

HomePlate Dinner

Next week is our dinner at HomePlate Youth Services - on Thursday, June 6. Setup begins at 4:00, food service at 6:00. Please contact Bonnie if you can help that evening.

If you can’t attend, you can donate food for the dinner. All items are purchased so it’s super simple. Visit our signup today - food should be at the church this Sunday, June 2. Thanks!

Help Build Hope

Mark your calendars, call your friends! Help Build Hope is June 14-15 at Christ UMC!

During this one weekend in a church parking lot, we will transform piles of lumber and buckets of nails into walls for an entire house for families in need of affordable housing. Learn more at https://cedarmillchristumc.org/serve/help-build-hope

Rummage Sale Signup

Our rummage sale is happening in just three weeks! It’s on Friday, June 14, from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm, and Saturday, June 15, from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm.

Here’s the schedule for bringing your items:

  • Sunday, June 9: After church until 1:30 pm

  • Monday, June 10: 4:30 - 7:00 pm

  • Tuesday, June 11: 4:00 - 7:00 pm

  • Wednesday, June 12: 9:00 am - noon

  • Thursday, June 13: 3:00 - 6:00 pm

This is a big fundraiser for the church, so all volunteers are much appreciated! How you can help:

  • Sort and price items during the above dates and times

  • Work during the sale, especially the first two hours of each day

  • Advertise the event on Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, and Nextdoor the week before the sale

  • Make signs for the neighborhood and put them out on Thursday, June 13.

Need One More Adult

Our older youth are hosting a Parents Night Out on Saturday, May 25, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm.

We still need one more adult to help chaperone - to fulfill our Safe Sanctuary requirements.

You must have had a criminal background check completed in the past three years. Or request one through the church office by May 10.
