This year, we have the opportunity to help 12 families with food and gifts. The food list is ready for you to sign up through our website or click here. The list includes everyday items to get through the holiday break from school.
Next week, the gift list for eight children will be published.
Other opportunities include donating cash for perishable food, buying Fred Meyer gift cards, or volunteering with the Western Farm Workers Association events.
Thank you, Westsiders and friends, for your generous hearts!
We hope you’re planning to attend this Sunday’s Christmas Party! There will be live music, food and drink, and several crafts for all ages. It’s not too late to RSVP at https://westsidejourney.breezechms.com/form/CmasParty
If you are able, please bring new mittens, gloves, scarves, hats, and socks for the giving tree. It is located outside the main doors. Items will be donated to those with the greatest need.
Looking for a meaningful way to help this Christmas?
The Western Farm Workers Association needs volunteers for their Christmas party and food delivery.
On Friday, Dec. 16th, gifts will be sorted for the children of the WFWA. This is an all-day event at Hillsboro United Methodist Church, 168 NE 8th Ave. Even if you have only an hour or two, your help would be appreciated!
The following evening, Saturday, Dec. 17th, is the Christmas party and gift distribution. There will be two seatings for dinner, 5 and 7 pm. Servers and helpers for the kids' room are needed. This will also be held at the Hillsboro United Methodist Church.
On Thursday, Dec. 22, the Christmas food baskets will be sorted and delivered. Starting at 9:00 am, at Reedville Presbyterian Church, 2785 SW 209th Ave in Aloha, volunteers will have a briefing and form teams to sort food. A typical task might be to count or estimate the number of items for each household and add them to the bags. After lunch, drivers will be taking the food, about 5-6 bags per household, to the members' homes.
As Merry G, the WFWA coordinator at Westside, says,
This takes lots of volunteers. New people can easily get the instructions and participate. Let us know your skills and limitations, we will find you a job. You can give cash and designate it for a specific need. You will meet nice people who also want to do something meaningful this holiday season. The why of this? It is for "the least of these." It is because we have abundance. It is because there is great wealth and great poverty. It is because it is the season of generosity. It is because it will bring joy to others and in turn, to you the giver.

Twenty units were collected, which will be used to help 60 patients. The drive’s goal of 18 units was blown away!
Our next drive will be on Tuesday, Feb 14. What better way to mark Valentine’s Day than to help save lives? More details will be available after the first of the year.
